Detailed information of the Event
On June 18th 2010 Warren Hansen, Sydney 2000 Olympian Taekwondo athlete, Athens 2004 coach and director of PTF Events is presenting another Professional Taekwondo Fight Night. The first PTF event, staged in 2009, was an outstanding success with over 600 attendees. The 2009 PTF Fight Night delivered a spectacular showcase of the best Taekwondo fighting you can see in Australia. Again, there is prize money totaling $10,000 and 4 major and 7 minor sponsors supporting the event. The 2009 event demonstrated how exciting the dynamic Olympic sport of Taekwondo can be when staged as a professional and crowd-pleasing event. Promising to deliver great Taekwondo fighting as well as high-powered entertainment this year’s event will also include live performances from the up and coming band “Everything Handed Down.”
PTF 2010 will have a 8 fight card showcasing Australia’s best Taekwondo fighters as well as Korean nationals. Fighters will include Terrance Fernandez, member of the 2008 Olympic B team, young contender Cem Kahmaran, NSW fighters such as Hayder Shkara and Korean Nationals training with Daniel Trenton at Victoria University in the International Sport Education Program (ISEP). Another first for professional Taekwondo, PTF Events has incorporated an innovation for the 2010 event. For the first time ever a 2 on 2 fight will be staged. This is a fight not to be missed! A team event will also be showcased with Australia fighting the Korean Nationals Team.
Head scoring shots and turning kicks score highly in Taekwondo, so you can expect an exciting display of powerful, dynamic and flexible athleticism and outstanding aerial martial art skills at PTF 2010. For this year’s event PTF Events has enlisted the services of Olympic gold medallist, Lauren Burns as an expert ringside commentator. Andrew Morello, winner of the first Australian “The Apprentice”, will also ably assist Burns in commentating on the night. As well as the return of Lauren, Perry Cale will again emcee the event; the best combat fight caller in the business.
Again as in 2009 there will in-between fight entertainment provided by Daniel Trenton’s Victorian University (VU) demonstration team. There will also be prize money up for grabs in a demonstration competition. Confirmed teams that will “demo” off for a prize are the City West demonstration team and the Fighting Lyons team. The winner will be decided by Morello and popular vote on the night so come along and support your favourite team.
One of Warren Hansen’s (director of PTF Events) passions, is to see Australia return to the top of the world rankings as it was when he, Lauren Burns and Daniel Trenton were actively competing and he sees PTF Fight Nights as one way to support that by providing athletes exposure to big-time events and prize money to financially support them. He also wants to capture the sporting imagination of the Australian public and media and to that end has brokered a deal with Aurora Foxtel to telecast the 2010 PTF Fight Night. This is will be an exciting first for Taekwondo in Australia so come to PTF 2010 and be part of the audience and help put Australian Taekwondo on the sports TV agenda.
